For this lab you need to go through the Site Selection Activity and tell me about what you learned in it.
In the Research part, tell me about each of the sites, including information about each of the categories you'll find in the activity (aquifer contamination, groundwater contamination, water stress, etc.).
In the Data Analysis section, compare the sites listed. What kind of output will each site have? What environmental risks do they each have?
Finally, in the Drawing Conclusions section, recommend one of the sites for a fracking site. Give detailed information about why you selected that site, as opposed to the others. These three questions on the last page of the lesson need to be answered in your response:
Think about all the different potential environmental impacts during each stage of the fracking process. Categorize them by risk to land, water, or air.
Often trade-offs are made between risks and benefits when making a decision about where to mine. How was your decision affected by a possible trade-off?
There was some high risk of environmental impact at all three sites. How did you decide which environmental impact risks were more problematic?
